I-EP MYP Transition Day | 携手同行,共赴未来

The years go by and the seasons flow by. Along with the growth and joy, our primary school career is coming to an end, which is a constant reminder that we are going to arrive at the next stop of our journey --- amazing middle school's life! In order to help PYP G6 students better adapt to the teaching mode of MYP, develop self-management and self-learning ability, and successfully complete the transition, on December 7, 2023,  the team of I-EP MYP teachers have tailored a colorful one-day middle school journey for them. At the same time, we also invited parents to come and experience the MYP learning atmosphere with our children together.


岁月不居,时节如流。伴随着成长与喜悦,小学的学习生涯即将步入尾声,这也时刻提醒着我们即将抵达人生的下一站旅程——令人憧憬的初中生活!为了帮助PYP六年级的学生更好地适应MYP中学的教学模式,发展他们的自我管理和自我学习能力,帮助他们顺利地完成小升初的过渡,2023年12月7日,I-EP中学教师团队为六年级学子们量身定制了一天丰富多彩的中学体验课程。同时,学校还特别邀请了家长们前来与孩子们同窗,一起感受MYP的学习氛围。

生物 Biology


In nature, there are countless bacteria and fungi all around you, even on your body and inside you. These microorganisms play an important role in the material and energy cycles of the biosphere and have a very close "relationship" with human development. Students have learned about the important concept of relationships by exploring the distribution of bacteria and fungi and how they relate to humans and other living things. In this lesson, students tried to cultivate the bacteria and fungi in the milk after opening, so that the slightly mysterious microorganisms could become the visible colonies, enhancing the understanding of microorganisms, and helping students to develop healthy living habits.

综合科学 Integrated Science


Both Melting and solidification are very common phenomenons in our life. In this lesson, the teacher took "soap making" as a chance to guide the students to understand various physical knowledge. In the process of practice, students learned the correct use of alcohol lamps, tripod heating, and measuring cylindercultivating good hands-on ability.

熔化和凝固是生活中常见的现象,这节课,老师以制造肥皂”为契机,引导学生们了解各种物理知识。在实践的过程中,他们学会正确使用酒精灯,学会了正确使用三脚架加热,学会了正确用量筒量取物体,培养了良好的动手能力。

英语语言习得 LA


MYP students are first assessed on their English level when they enter the school, and teachers will divide them into different groups (P1~P4) according to their English level for English language acquisition classes. Tiered teaching helps teachers to prepare and teach based on the students' characteristics, thus stimulating their motivation, and enabling teachers to teach according to the students' abilities. Therefore, in this transition day, G6 students were also divided into four groups, P1, P2, P3 and P4, according to their English levels, and were taught by four English teachers in parallel.

MYP学生在入学时先会接受英语等级测评,老师会根据学生的英语水平,把他们分成不同小组(P1-P4),进行英语语言习得课教授。分层教学有利于老师基于学生特点进行备课和教学,从而突出学生主体地位、激发学生积极性,做到更好地因材施教。因此,在本次体验日中,六年级的学生同样依据了各自的英语水平,被分成了P1P2P3P4组,分别由英语老师进行平行授课。

In P1 English lesson, we have learned various vocabulary about food such as beef, cod, lettuce and so on. We also inquired how to describe what a "healthy diet" is, what food categories should be included in a healthy hamburger, the process of making a healthy hamburger and what ingredients are needed in English. In this process, we also learned how to use imperative sentences.

P1的英语语言习得课堂上,我们认识了各种有关食物的词汇,如牛肉,鳕鱼,生菜等。我们还学习了如何用英语描述什么是“健康饮食”,健康的汉堡包应该包含什么食物种类,制作健康汉堡包的过程以及需要用到的食材等等。在这个过程中,我们还了解了祈使句的用法。

In P2 English class, G6 studens explored the dynamic world of advertising! Through interactive activities, they have learned about terms such as product, brand, and slogan, enriching their vocabulary while fostering the creativity. This engaging lesson provided a fun and educational experience for all students.

In P3 English class, G6 students have explored the topic of an around-the-world adventure, with a focus on learning about different environments and trips. The class activities have focused on enhancing vocabulary, prompting thinking about various environments and adventures. Students were encouraged to use the different target vocabulary interactively and to collaborate in English.

In P4 English class, G6 students were using their English to explore the vast world of open world video games! Through differentiated, tiered, and interactive activities, they could learn about qualities such as characterization, environmental design, and plot arrangement, which motivated their learning. This thought provoking lesson have provided a usefully, fun experience for the students.

中文语言与文学 LL


In MYP Language and Literature class, we take "Four Seasons in My eyes" as the theme, helped student to recognize the difference between MYP language and literature class and PYP Chinese class. First, students are asked to summarize the characteristics of the four seasons with words, analyze the 3 paragraphs given, and summarize the unique characteristics of the season with the writing methods such as the "five senses", "rhetoric", "association", "imagination" in the landscape prose. Next is the group work --- linking words into paragraphs. Students worked in groups of 4 and gave impromptu speeches on the content about "seasons", "sights", "shapes", "colors", "smells" and so on.

MYP中文语言与文学课上,我们以“我眼中的四季”为主题,让学生们感受MYP中文语言与文学课与PYP语文课的区别。在这节课的前半部分,老师让学生用词语概括四季的特色,并对所给的三段文字进行分析,运用在写景散文中的五感、修辞、联想与想象等写作方法总结四季的特征。随后是是小组合作,连词成段环节。学生以4人小组为单位,按“季节”、“景物”、“形状”、“颜色”、“气味”等内容进行即兴演讲。

数学 Math


In order to help students learn maths better while building the solid foundation of English maths vocabulary and developing the critical thinking skills, MYP students take Chinese Math class as well as English Math class.

Chinese Math


In this lesson, students learned about "opposite number". They explored the geometric meaning of opposite number, learned about the algebraic meaning of opposite number and what "forms" can be used to represent opposite number in mathematics. At the same time, the students have made their own opposite number wheels to consolidate their knowledge through combination of the numbers and shapes and to gradually understand the abstract concepts they have learned at junior secondary level.

英文数学
English Math


The aim of this math lesson was to introduce the Pythagorean Theorem and its application in calculating distances and understanding volumes in 3D space to students. Through hands-on interactive 3D modelling projects and practical examples that used the online interactive math applications, students were able to grasp the concept of the Pythagorean Theorem, recognize its relevance in the real world and understand how it extends to volume calculations.

社制活动 House Event


In I-EP, everyone is labeled with a color. Blue is caring, the dragon of love; red is righteousness, the bull of integrity; green is courtesy, the peacock of enlightenment; yellow is wisdom, the monkey of intelligence; purple is faith, the unicorn of integrity. These five colors represent the five houses of I-EP. Together with our partners of different age groups, we become a united organization, and actively transmit the positive energy through different activities.


To enhance the sense of experience of our G6 children, MYP has organized a unique dodgeball match for them on this day. Throughout the whole process, we competed as the house, together creating an atmosphere full of laughter. Students from different grades experienced the excitement and joy of sports and also gained precious friendship.

在I-EP,每个人都会有一个颜色的标签。蓝色是仁,仁爱之龙;红色是义,正直公牛;绿色是礼,开明孔雀;黄色是智,智慧灵猴;紫色是信,诚信独角兽。五个颜色分别代表着I-EP的五个社,鼓励大家与不同年龄段的伙伴一起,成为一个团结的组织,以“仁义礼智信”为纽带,积极传递我们的正能量与闪光点。


了增强六年级孩子们参与度与体验感,在这一天,MYP为他们组织策划了一场别开生面的躲避球比赛。整个过程中,中小学以社制为单位进行竞赛,到处都是一片欢声笑语。各年级的同学既体验到了体育运动的刺激与欢乐,也收获了珍贵的信任与友谊。
